    Underage driver charged with DUI

Posted on: June 19th, 2019 by Dod Law

An alleged drunk driver hit several cars and drove along the sidewalk before he was arrested by police. According to California authorities, the driver was only 20 years of age and, therefore, underage for drinking. He has been charged with DUI in addition to several more criminal charges.

Police were notified of a speeding driver shortly before 9:30 p.m., and local officers and deputies reported to the scene. It is believed that the young driver was under the influence of alcohol when he drove his vehicle onto a sidewalk, struck a parked vehicle and then hit a support for a nearby deck. The support failed and fell on to the vehicle he had initially hit. After being hit, the vehicle was pushed forward and hit a second vehicle, which was then also hit by the falling deck.

The driver then apparently kept on driving. According to police, he also struck a support for a business awning and then hit another parked vehicle. At that point his vehicle came to a rest and allegedly tried to leave the scene of the accident, but a group of bystanders prevented him from doing so. By the time police arrived they found a scene with extensive damage.

Police performed a blood-alcohol content test after arresting the driver and transporting him to jail. His BAC registered as .09, which is above the legal limit. Facing a DUI charge while also underage can be scary, but it is not an impossible situation. California defendants who pay careful attention to their criminal defense planning and begin working on it in a timely manner may be able to secure the best possible outcome for their situations.
